Now what happened???

A couple of days ago, I was at rehearsal in the middle of a dance number when it felt like something ripped my muscle leg apart. I used everything I had to not cry & finish the dance. Immediately afterwards, I managed to limp over to the restroom where I broke down. I couldn't put any wait on my leg... at all. The muscle just would spasm madly if I tried.

I did get it checked out & they ruled out any blood clots (good thing cause that would have been so much worse). The diagnosis was I had a calf muscle strain (which happened to the same muscle which I recently recovered from pulling). So now I'm getting the rest it needs, getting around with crutches & taking muscle relaxers only if I have to. The muscle itself gets so damn tight which hurts too bad.

The good news is that I should hopefully be able to dance on it in a week. I will know more for sure after my scheduled follow-up appointment with my regular doctor.

Expect the unexpected!

A month ago, Son had a rough few days battling a fever which reduced him to tears & exhaustion. I felt so badly for him & there was only so much a parent or anyone else can do until his body faught it off. Thankfully it feels like it's been much longer than that & he's been running around like crazy since!

Busy busy bee!

These last few weeks have been very busy with my musical rehearsals, ending of summer camp, preparing for the start of Son's 2nd year of preschool (hard to believe he's starting kindergarten next year) & life in general. I have somehow managed though to go on a few outings with Hubby & the kids. It was so nice to get some quality time in with them. It feels like it's been forever since I spent time with family. It has definitely been way too long since I've seen some friends. We're all so busy with jobs & kids (and the kids are getting so much bigger & older)!

Anyway, things are obviously going well but busy here. We've gotten a variety of great family news that I hope to share soon. Life is definitely progressing here! More pics coming soon!

You wore a polo shirt where???

A few weeks ago, some friends came to visit from out-of-town. After my musical rehearsal, we met up at a small local bar or what some people otherwise refer to as a 'hole-in-the-wall'. The drinks were fine & we got to catch up with old friends. That happens so rarely outside neighbors & family as you get older I think.

I made a homemade dinner & cake to celebrate my Dad's birthday with Hubby, kids, my Mom & youngest sister.

It was followed by a nice fire outside on our new patio & firepit. What a relaxing night that was & if only there were more of those!

Such heartbreak!

Carrie Underwood has a song called 'Just A Dream' that has such raw emotion & heartbreak in it. The video especially made me cry, especially with so many of our people overseas fighting for our country & their loved ones never knowing what will happen forced to hope for the best.

Oh what to eat?

This week my close friend & I managed to get together for dinner. It's been months since we've been able to hang out; therefore it was nice being able to catch up again.

Now if I could manage to find a date night with Hubby!

No one said migraines are nice!

This morning as I was getting Son dressed, I got a severe & sudden migraine that literally knocked me to the floor & into a ball on the bedroom floor. Oh not pleasant at all! Son was very helpful getting Hubby's help to get me settled. And to to think I had such grand plans for the day!!!

Daughter played quietly (mostly) in the pack-n-play while I rested & tried to recover. It was late afternoon before I started feeling somewhat decent. Although I still had to keep the blinds closed, I was able to function well enough while Hubby got a night out with his friend.

I do hate it when I get a doozy like that! Let's hope it's a long time before that happens again...

All manners of trucks!

Son had a cool time checking out the different variety of trucks. Everyone loved beeping the horn on the tow truck & ringing the VERY loud fire engine bell. Although it was hot, we managed to stay somewhat cool.

Critters everywhere!!!

Our neighbor had a fun, unique birthday party a few weeks ago where the kids got to see, touch & hold many different animals ranging from a snake to bearded dragon to a porcupine. Everyone, especially the kids of all ages, got a real kick out of it!

Tables in the air???

Last night we got a whopper thunderstorm, high winds & possibly some funnels (no one's sure on that part). While I took shelter in a church basement away from home, Hubby & kids stayed in the basement for about 45 minutes during the tornado watch. When they came up, Hubby found our neighbor's trampoline in our yard & everything cleared off the patio except the grill, hose hideaway & storage bin; ironically those were the lightest items. The heavy BBQ grill only stayed on the patio because it had been moved up against the concrete patio step. Everything else was either blown or picked off the patio into the yard anywhere from five to 25 feet from the patio. Son's playhouse roof was thrown into the neighbor's yard in two different pieces. Our six-person patio table was picked up & thrown upside down into the grass where the patio umbrella snapped in half & the tempered glass on the table shattered into thousands of pieces. The patio chairs were strewn about ours & our neighbor's yard. Amazingly, the swing set was untouched & trampoline moved only a couple of inches.

It's odd how the wind was selective about what it chose to move or destroy. Ours, as well as two of our neighbors (one next door to the right & the other two doors to the left), had their patios cleared & destroyed as well. Yet the houses behind us were untouched! As frustrating as all this is, I'm thankful it was only our patio furniture & not my family or our house. If the wind had been going the other way, it very well could have picked up that same furniture & tossed it through our 'picture window' which would have been worse on so many levels!

Finally enjoying it!

Last week we got Son a new pool since he's bigger now. After setting it up multiple days & then being taken away as punishment, he finally managed to enjoy it & a playdate with one of the neighbors. They both had fun & had fun going down the 'water slide' on the raft. Hopefully he'll be able to enjoy it again soon.

We thought Son was on the mend when his temperature was back to normal yesterday afternoon & evening (even 15 min before bedtime). A few hours after bedtime, his fever rose to 102.6 yet again until this afternoon. We have to adjust our weekend plans but hope Son will be well soon. So far, this doesn't appear contagious but is viral. With any luck, neither Daughter, Hubby & I won't get this. We'll be crossing our fingers for now!

Glass half-empty or half-full?

A local house fire occurred last week. Several people saying they heard two explosions & had opinions on the response time. I stopped by about 20 min after it happened with the kids so Son saw what why we don't play with fire. The sight gave me chills. Amazingly, the family with four children were out of town & the pets rescued in time & doing fine. I feel for the family as they have to deal with what happens when they return home but they are lucky they weren't there!

They worked well together & everyone was okay!
