Festive lights

My hubby put up our outdoor christmas lights while the weather was nice & even coaxed me out to help. (I did the column lights!) The next evening we had our annual lighting display ceremony which our son oohed & ahhed over. Part of the joy of having a child is seeing everything so simply again.

Eye of Newt

Today I had a typical "me moment" otherwise known as when I do something very silly, being clutzy & injure myself in some insane way. This moment was no different.

Our cat started the puking motions so I went to get her on the tile. She ran upstairs & I started to follow her but ended up running my forehead smack into the downstairs baby gate. Yes you read it correctly. I gashed my forehead (as seen in the photo) on our baby gate. Only I who managed to give myself a concussion in college by walking into a hairdryer (again you heard correctly), could do such a thing.

Oh & our cat still puked on the carpet so my efforts and 'rewards' were in vain. Darn gash still hurts too!

Cough & cuddle

This past weekend all three of us got sick with a nasty cold. We're still getting through it but doing okay.

It's nice when little boys are so receptive to medicine which will help make them feel better.

It was time to cuddle with Daddy. He finds such peace with us when he's sick that it never ceases to amaze me.

Be be aggressive! Be be aggressive!

We talked to our IVF doctor today who confirmed they were using their most aggressive plan for our next & final retrieval. Although we haven't confirmed this with insurance, supposedly if we have left-over embryos (which have good potential) after the retrieval then we could use those for future transfers without the retrieval process. It all depends if my body responds well enough to the meds & goes long enough to make more than the minimum required embryos for this transfer. Cross your fingers folks!

Great sound!

We had a great date night last weekend. First we saw the new James Bond movie (pretty good I guess). Then we ate dinner at Mullen's Bar & Grill & listened to my friend's band play. So I drank a little... ;-) Afterwards we spent the night at my in-laws (who had watched our son that evening) where our son decided to get up at 4 am (only 30 minutes after we got to bed!) so we had to take turns sleeping & watching him since he wouldn't go to sleep again until 11 am.

My friend's cover band, Send in the Drones, sounded great!
They played a good variety of music.

A camera war has been started!

There's always time for a snack!

Our silly boy enjoying his afternoon snack!

Nap time arrives once more!

Throwing fun around

A few weeks ago, we went to Odssey Fun World where our son had a huge blast.
Of course, beforehand he performed his own private concert at home!

Our son carefully consider his choices.

Ready... aim... fire!

Daddy's down for the count!

Celebration with Birthday Boy - Friends

Welcome to the gang!

We really enjoyed the evening out & the chance to have adult company!

Another set of friends we see rarely because we're all so busy with life!

He was the life of the party!
Everyone laughed so much.

Celebration with Birthday Boy - Presents!

Time for the birthday boy to cut the first slice of cake!

The next Vanna White!

Our fantastic waiter!

Celebration with Birthday Boy - Family

It was good seeing our friends' family again.
This is the birthday boy's wife's parents.

His sister gives him thumbs up!

Of course part of the birthday boy's family made it!

Our friend's wife's family were able to join the party!

This place has class!

Recently we went to a bar to celebrate one of our friend's birthday. See the above picture dancing with his wife! The place had a great atmosphere & was very spacious which helped as it became more crowded late in the evening. It was a great time. Unfortunately I was not used to going out to clubs late at night so I was exhausted. It's very different from sitting at a computer & blogging. I also wore the wrong clothes for bar dancing & was sweating just sitting in my chair! After we reluctantly left the bar, we still didn't arrive home for another two hours after picking up our son at my folks' & then driving home.

I loved how the owners decorated the bathroom! Isn't it great???

Reservations for one!

This afternoon I managed to make enough space in our garage for one car.  Yes it is a two-car garage but we haven't been able to use it since May with all our summer & misc stuff laying around.  Since my hubby put up a few organizational areas, that has helped store some items on the wall.  There's a ton of seasonal stuff that goes downstairs in the basement still but for now it's set neatly aside in the garage.  I imagine that will be taken care of this week.

Still I'm happy to have enough room for my car in the garage to keep our son out of the cold.  Since our garage is insulated, it keeps the temperature approximately 20 degrees warmer in the winter & cooler in the summer.  Therefore the car is much warmer in the winter & cooler in the summer for our son.  Less to fuss about.  ;-)

So let's celebrate & cross our fingers that we can clear enough room for both our cars this weekend before any snow comes!

Sunday poop

Last weekend our son got into my yarn cabinet (pulling & unraveling 5-6 skeins), dumped a 3x5 notecard container (with organized notecards in order of date) & tore apart styrofoam into tiny pieces... all this I found laying on the guest room floor. I was able to take care of the yarn & the notecards easily but I wasn't happy! Today I managed to finally vacuum the styrofoam when our son wasn't sleeping & we were both upstairs together. He kept pretending the vacuum would 'bite' him. ;-)

Of course as luck would have it, that very same day our son decided to go poop-diving into his diaper again. Can you imagine what he did with it? What would you say if I said he was drawing on our end table with it? Yes... I'm afraid you heard correctly. Our son was drawing on one of our end tables with his own poop. We've tried many different things but we cannot break him of this disgusting habit. As long as he doesn't it I guess. Count the blessings right?

Dirty dirty dirty!

So a few days ago I was starting to catch up on laundry when I noticed something very wrong with our washing machine. Simply put it kept getting stuck on the spin cycle still sudsy & I'd have to do each load twice sometimes three times to get through it. This was definately a problem as I usually love our washing machine. That is so not the case right now. I think it's not rinsing the clothes which means the clothes I have managed to wash most likely have some soap residue on them. I've heard that it's itchy to the skin but I guess we'll see from the clothes I have managed to "wash". In the meantime, I have to figure out how to get through til the repairman arrives before Thanksgiving next week. Ugh...

Kissing hands

Every night at bedtime our son wants to hold my hand while he falls asleep. It's so precious! One day all too soon he'l think it yucky but until then... I'm loving his innocence & love for me. Just like how he loves to kiss my hand these days!

Sudden Streaking

This past week our son has found another love... being naked. He takes off all his clothes & runs around the house. I've seen him streaking past already twice this week! Maybe we should just move to a nudist resort & then some of our problems would be solved. Of course, my hubby & I would have to get past the insecurities of being naked for the whole world then. Okay, so maybe that's not a REAL alternative. ;-) Then again...

Hooked on Playdough

Over the weekend, our son was re-introduced to Playdough.  Up til now, he's never expressed any interest in it.  After playing with it with a friend, he decided he loved it.  so I broke our playdough out which he played with all afternoon yesterday & I do mean that literally.  Hours on end!  This morning it was the first he asked about after coming downstairs until he fell asleep at the table.

Friendly hugs

Last week I watched our neighbor's girls while their older daughter (see below) & our son played well together. It was challenging to try & balance three childrens' needs. I really enjoyed it though.

Their youngest daughter was quite the talker!

Evening energy

We all had lots of fun playing around after one of our son's gymnastic's class. We've been so blessed & are thankful every day for it!

Gymnast material?

Father & son listened closely at our son's first gymnastics class.
Our son definately has favorites like the deep soft blue pit where
he can hide & throw foam blocks. He's enjoyed hanging from the
rings & walking the balance beam.

Next round!

Even fairy tales can be naughty!

Whoever dreamed that Snow White could be so naughty? Of course, she did live with seven other men who were not related. They must have had a VERY good time... or maybe they were just 'friends'!

I have my own fairy tale (although not always perfect) life that my hubby & I work hard for. There are naughty moments when the mood strikes! ;-)

You all have a good day & remember to vote!

Out of service

Today we lost internet (including phone) almost all morning & part of early afternoon. Luckily the phone calls automatically forward to my cell when that happens but it's still very inconvenient. Hopefully this was a one-time event with our internet provider!

Daily clean-up

After every meal with my son, I have to do clean-up of the floor. He has such a creative imagination that when he plays at mealtime, food ends up everywhere! Hence, meal times can be exhausting for Mommy (depending on what we're eating!).

"So when do I get to eat again?"

"See Mama? Clean hands!"

"I'm exhausted from eating breakfast!"

My little cook

Last night our son helped me make breaded porchops for dinner.
He immediately started handing me the eggs one at a time.
Then he mixed the eggs for me because he loves mixing so!
What a great little helper he was!

When it came time to coat the porkchops in the breading mix, our son was very eager to help!

He took shaking another porkchop in the breading very seriously!

After dinner entertainment

Our son loves entertaining himself & others, especially after meals.
This was just another day of laughs for us!

"So what's good here?"

"Boy am I happy & full!"

"Bib on or off? That is the question!"

"Uh-oh... did something spill into the pocket?"
