What are they to each other?

Anybody knows about Mickey & Minnie Mouse, but who really knows their background?
There are many objects giving the idea that their married but are they really?
We don't think about it as kids, only as adults? In Orlando, they each have their home
which implies to me thay are not married. I've never seen it implied in any cartoons & she never wears a ring. Not to mention, it's Daisy Duck who tends to kiss Mickey Mouse
versus Minnie. Although we as parents try to imply to our kids that certain cartoon
characters are married, I've yet to seen it implied in a cartoon. Maybe I've missed that
episode or other vital clues. I find it all rather curious!

Sisters & Superman

Me & my boy!

Celebrity in local area

Anybody who reads any celebrity news knows of Paris Hilton. Evidently her new movie was shown at a local movie theater which she was going to attend. Initially my hubby & I thought of going just to see what she really looked like in reality. It just wasn't worth the time though. I really don't think any particular way of her, since I can't possbily know what's true & what isn't. I'm not her. It would have been interesting to see a big-time celebrity in a town like ours though!

Supposedly Will Smith also was to make an appearance at the another theater. I didn't think we ever got celebrities here! Search the link above for "Star Power" & read all about it.

Why not rename the town to Hollywood instead? Okay... maybe that's a little premature; okay a lot. Take 'em while you can get 'em!

Downtown trick-or-treating

This week we went to the trick-or-treating event at the local downtown.
All the kids dress up in their Halloween costumes (& even some adults).
There were some adorable costumes plus more adult costumes than usual.
Some other adults got a kick of me being a nun carrying a diaper bag.
I just told them, "I really sinned!"

'Superman' does some flying with some heavenly help.

Ready to fly!

"Okay Daddy, show me how to get the loot!"

Some famous media icons made it to the pumpkinfest!
It's amazing how creative some people can be. I look at a pumpkin & see little else.

After-dinner clean-up

Yesterday, after trick-or-treating downtown (which is only a couple of blocks)
we tried a new local restaurant called Sycamore Parkway Restaurant.
The food & service was good & prices cheap. I think we found a new local gem!

Our son attempts to eat a whole strawberry at once!

What happened to quiet time?

Although it may look like my hubby's trying to use chloroform on my son,
I swear he's just wiping his mouth clean. Honest truth I swear!

Bunny Theatre

The 30-Second Bunnies Theatre is a site that does movies in 30 seconds using bunnies. Please keep in mind, some movies are not suitable for children. Have an open mind for something different.

Storytime

Today we went to PATS playgroup where our son played with the other kids, I chatted with other moms, had a snack & sang songs as a group. Definately going again!

Waiting in line for the thing he wants the most!

My son gets so exited about trains so you can bet
that he was anxious to ride this one at Johansen's Farm!
For a one time fee of $8 per person (regardless of age),
you get access to multiple bouncers, petting zoo (goats, cows, chicks, etc),
pony rides (October only), train rides, hay tunnel & small corn maze.

"I probably could get a better view from up there!"

"Choo-choo, where are you?"

"See? I'm being patient."

The end of a long wait!

"When is it our turn to ride the train, Daddy?"

"Where'd it go?"

"I hear the the choo-choo!"

Happy faces before getting on the train.

"I'm finally on the train!"

Bouncing around!

Bouncing around at Johansen's Farm is fun for the whole family!

"Hey Daddy! Look at me!"

Our son found a playmate to jump around with inside the bouncer.
Yes they screamed together. What a pair!

He made it through & down the slide!

Chicks in the hay

More fun at Johansen's farm with wooden bus frames, baby chicks & hay rides!

Time for school!

I was trying to let me son see the baby chick as it climbed around me.
When he finally got it he started to hold it to tight
& we had to peel his fingers away from the bird.
Luckily the chick was all right but we kept him away after that.
It was cute to see all those adorable chicks run back & forth in packs.

Father & son enjoy their first hay ride together!

On to the next adventure!

Down we go!

Our son climbed up the two-story rope ladder
to slide down this big air-blown slide three times!
My little man!

Daddy looks on as mother & son go down first.

My two favorite men take the two-story plunge on an blown-up slide!

Don't touch my beard!

The goats at Johansen's Farm were very interested in our son. While one seemed to be protecting he did not want our son to touch his beard. Frankly neither did we, in fear that he would pull it & get bitten.

"Could you & I be friends?"

"Would you get that kid away from me?"

One too many makes a crowd!

A cry for help

Tonight after dinner, my hubby was working late again & my son & I were restless. So we went to McDonald's where my son joined the other kids climbing in the maze of tubes & appearing out of a slide. The entire time you hear the kids talking & laughing without ever knowing quite where they are except for an occassional peek out a plastic window. After doing this once or twice a child started crying somewhere in the tubes. I knew almost instantly it was my son's cry. I tried calling to him but he wasn't kept crying. After a minute of trying to figure out what to do, another parent said, "Go ahead on up. We've all been there." With that I tore off my shoes, covered up my purse & keys & started crawling around the tubes calling for my son. Near the top I heard an older girl asking if I was looking for my son. She told me she was sitting with him & that he was scared to go down the slide alone. After we went down my son was fine but got upset when I wouldn't go back in the tubes with all the other kids in there.

So we packed up our stuff & went to the YMCA where we received new 'electronic ID cards' & provided with a locker key for the private locker room (because I pay extra to use the steam room) along with towels. We changed & went into the pool for some swimming! My son did very well. He loved practicing climbing up the ledge & then jumping in the pool (while sitting on the ledge), blowing bubbles in the water (until water went up his nose), holding onto my arms while kicking his legs behind him, jumping into the air out of the water off my legs & finally watching a girl appear & disappear in & out of the water (she kept diving for her toy). We had a blast.

We put away his toys before bedtime & he refused to lay back down after his book. So I let him cry it out while I started a quick shower (he was crying on & off). It was at the end of my shower he walked into our bathroom still crying. So he waited patiently while I dried off & dressed in my pjs. Then walked calmly into his bed, listened to a story & then started giving me a hard time again. He quickly calmed down & went to sleep easily then.

It was a fun evening out for both of us. We'll definately start going to the YMCA more often.

Family time

This weekend was fantastic. Although my hubby had to do some work on Sunday,
we spent all day Saturday & part of Sunday on family outings. It was really nice
since my hubby's been working non-stop for the past month & a half.
I can't remember the last time I spent time with him before that. How scary is that?
I'll post more pictures from this past weekend late tonight.

Mommy hugs her baby boy!

Who are those funny people & that little boy peeking around the corner?
