Houses & lifestyles

Today I read this interesting article about how certain factors in our homes can make us fat! In truth some of it makes sense but I couldn't resist adding my first thoughts. The basic tips they gave are the following:

  1. Turn up the lights when eating which encourages activity. (This way you can watch exactly how much you eat!)
  2. Serve meals on blue plates which can inhibit appetites. (A blue tint on the food would be a bit discouraging!)
  3. Use salad instead of dinner plates to downsize portions. (Then you have to walk more frequently to get refills, right?)
  4. Stay out of the kitchen which is usually next to the family room. (Time to build a new house & create a NEW layout!)
  5. Use pastel colored pillows or blankets on sofa to curb appetite & ease stress. (I don't know when snuggling when blankets cures hunger but... okay!)
  6. Spray lavender oil on pillow at bedtime to avoid sleep deprivation which lowers body's ability to burn fat. Then use peppermint or jasmine scented candles aroudn the house during the day to increase energy & alertness. (Wouldn't peppermint make you feel more hungry, especially around christmas time?)
  7. Start with simple exercise equipment such as running up & down stairs a few times before snacks & using an excercise mat & some dumbells. (Isn't making the time to do so the real challenge?)
  8. Donate your oversized clothes which give yourself permission to put weight back on. (Who really wants to spend money on clothes all the time as your weight fluctuates, hmmm?)
  9. Decorate home with pictures of thin people with photo of your face to remind you of your goals. (Then you can answer that common question by guests... "When was this photo taken?")
