Horizontal challenge

Our daughter is going through her 4 week growth spurt & is back to eating frequently again. Meanwhile she's started having some fussy moments which we are trying some suggestions for. Also she is having some challenging moments because she doesn't like to be horizontal most the time & freaks out when she is. We're working on that one though.

Honey?

The other day at lunch, my son opened the fidge while I was feeding my daughter. This was our conversation...

Son: Do you want yogurt honey?

Me: What?

Son: Do you want yogurt honey?

Me: No thank you.

Son then held up a yogurt in one hand & lunchmeat in the other: Do you want this (raised one hand) or this (raised the other)?

Me: The ham is old honey.

Son: Ok, you want this? (raised the yogurt)

Me (realizing I should just go along at this point): Sure, I'll have some yogurt.

Son (places the lunchmeat back in the fidge): I'll get spoons. (retrieves the spoons) Here you go Mommy!

Family Time

This past weekend we got together with my relatives. With my youngest brother visiting, it was the perfect time. We all had a nice time visiting, watching movies & playing games.

Riding bracelets

Over the weekend, we went to a local carnival where everything was reasonably priced. A ride bracelet gave you unlimited rides all day for only $16 for each bracelet! That's better than any carnival we've been to.

Friday I went on some of the rides with my son which was a lot of fun. It's been over a year since I didn't have so many physical limitations due to IVF or pregnancy. The only ride I wouldn't do was the Ferris wheel which Daddy had no problem with & my son loves. Our daughter slept well in spite of the noise, the music was great & the short rain shower held off until the end of the evening. As my hubby was changing our son for bed, our son was so exhausted that he couldn't sit up without falling over.

When my my mom & I took the kids back on Sunday, I managed to overcome my fear & ride it the Ferris wheel with my son. We also got a ton of kid books for only $2 total along with some homemade cake.

What's your costume?

Last week we shopped for Halloween costumes at the seasonal costume store. That's where we found this beauty of a pacifier for our baby girl!

Our son immediately picked out this costume outfit which he was eager to try out. What a surprise! Ok, not really. He did enjoy meeting the monsters though.

Misunderstood art & crib recall

I understand people use art to imitate life & express themselves & can appreciate that. What I don't understand is how someone could wear a fake bomb to an airport in any country now & think it would be appreciated!

If you have kids, be aware of this Simplicity crib recall. Here's the info & pictures!

Miscarriage study

This is an interesting video about a study being done on miscarriage prevention. Turns out one in four women have miscarriages. How scary is that?

2.5 Weeks Old

Asleep safe in Daddy's arms

Yes, she sleeps a lot (except at night when she wants to feed often!)

During our visit with my hubby's sister & brother-in-law, our daughter calmed down for a bit at one point.

Finally my sister-in-law got to hold her new niece!

Block party 1

This past weekend, we went to a local 'block party' with one of our neighbors whom we have play dates with on occassion. With my hubby close-by, they bravely faced the pig.

"Here suey..." Hey wait a minute!

Daddy's turn to try on our son's crown.

Pumpkin farm 1

This weekend we had a great fall outing on the perfect day at a local pumpkin farm. We had so much fun!

It also has a large petting zoo & many different jumpers.

He even made some new friends!

Then off he went into the sunset with Daddy.

Pumpkin farm 2

My hubby spent the first half taking my son everywhere while I fed & took care of our daughter.

Down into the rabbit hole he goes!

During the second half, my son & I did our thing...

while Daddy spent some one-on-one time with our daughter.

First impressions

Our son became very concerned when he held his baby sister for the first time & she started to cry almost instantly. He responded with "Uh-oh!" while Daddy reassured him that he didn't break the baby. (LOL) You can see how concerned he is in the photo above.

Whoever would beat an 81 year old to death?

Then this would be another reason why I don't want a snake as a pet! Somebody should tell someone else that drinking with your pet snake is just not a smart thing to do. Be careful... there are very gross images here!

Alone time

Last night I was showering when I realized it was the first moment I had alone all day except when I napped & was dead to the world. How odd it was to realize that...

Public punishment

It's good to see somebody publically punished for stealing to 'help' veterans!

Taylor Swift from American Idol is working with the state of Tennessee to arm the public with information to protect themselves & defeat the internet predators.

Who is he?

I love our son's active imagination! Whether he puts a bowl on his head marching around a soldier speaking in foreign tongue or hiding trinkets in his pocket while swaggering around like a pirate, he makes life such a joy for us.

Perfect song

The lyrics to this song fits the birth of our daughter so perfectly!

Transition to two kids

My hubby's mom was such a great help this week. These past two weeks have been a much easier transition with the help of our parents. I couldn't imagine not having family around & really feel for those who don't in similar situations. They can make change so much easier to deal with.

After I put our son & daughter to bed last night, I got in bed myself. As I was falling asleep, I heard my newborn daughter wake up with hiccups & could just picture the frustrated look she gets on her face when that happens. She absolutely hates getting the hiccups. LOL In the middle of the night then, our son crawled into bed to sleep & cuddle with me.

My hubby sent me this gorgeous bouquet yesterday with an endearing note. He's so wonderful & knows just how to surprise me. I love how the stargazer lilies fragrance fill the house. It doesn't hurt that it's stunning to look at either! ;-)

Today was the first day completely on my own with two kids. It's been interesting; more time-consuming than anything else. The challenge is when you have to do something with each child at the same time. Like when I was breastfeeding my daughter & putting my son in the corner at the same time. Let me tell you, it's quite interesting when you dragging one child behind you while an infant is attached to your breast! I ran errands for the first time with both kids by myself. It's truly amazing how much long everything takes. We picked up some prescriptions, ran to the bank & picked up a few items from the resale shop (including the 'cool helicopter' as he calls it). Today each child decided to nap at separate times which left no time for me to sleep. I managed to start some laundry which if I'm lucky I'll be get to tonight or this weekend some time.

We made some fruit salad with strawberries, bananas, apples & cantaloupe. My son was in awe of all the colors in it. Kids find wonder so easily. It's a shame we lose that as we get older.

Poop & comprehension

Over the past 24 hours, our new daughter has had explosive diapers up the wazoo! At least she's getting the billyrubin out of her system to reduce her jaundice. Last night she kept me up all night until 1 am feeding every hour! I guess every girl's got to eat, huh? At least I don't have to worry about her not getting back to her birth weight. LOL She often rolls onto her side when sleeping & is trying so hard to lift her head up.

Our son continues to do well with his new sister. He even noticed she's missing a body part that he has. "Where's her pee-pee?" he asked. LOL He also pointed & asked about certain body parts on a Ken doll. Yup, that's right folks. He becoming curious about body parts which means we'll start having some very interesting conversations with him soon.

He has had some rough moments at preschool now & then but is doing well overall. When you talk to him & say "Are you happy?" He says "Yeah! I'm happy!" It amazes me that he knows the difference of when to use you & I.

When he was taking pictures in the car with his camera, I said "Oh look at the barn!" "What barn?" he asked. "Oh it's gone now," I said. "Oh we passed it?" he asked. I'm constantly floored by his expanding vocabulary every day.

My hubby has been in a many long meetings this week. Luckily that's almost over. We're so looking forward to spending some family time together this weekend.

From then to now...

Hope you enjoy the collage of photos of both our kids from birth to now! Can you tell which one is our son & which one is our daughter? Leave a comment & let me know what you think. Watch the slideshow afterwards to so if you were correct!

Yes, I know some are repeat pics.

25 years!

Happy Birthday to my yougest sister! I love this picture of her at the senior prom. What a happy face!

Best time to blog

I find the best time to blog now is during the day when my newborn daughter is feeding. It works for both of us, especially since she's on a growth spurt feeding pattern right now.

So what's new for me today? Last night my son crawled into bed & snuggled with me for a few hours. When my daughter woke up for one of her feedings, I put him back in his bed where he slept the rest of the night. He woke me up early in the morning sleeping in the bedroom armchair with my daughter after her feeding. Then he listened so nicely as he went potty, got dressed & ate his breakfast. He spent the remainder of the morning asking when Grandma was going to arrive until he saw their car in our driveway & took off running downstairs to greet her. We got the car seat into his car & off they went for a fun-filled day. Meanwhile, our daughter was ready to eat... AGAIN! :-) My hungry little girl! Now I get to sleep in between her feedings today. Whahoo!!!

Men & marriage

Some humorous thoughts on men & marriage...

Top ten marriage mistakes. We've all made mistakes during a relationship. Supposedly these are the big ones. They seem to make sense. Apologizing can be the hardest sometimes. It's easy to start taking your spouse & what they do for you every day for granted. On occasion, I find myself guilty of that & then remind myself how lucky I am to have a wonderful husband who loves me as much as I love him after everything we've been through together in the past fifteen years! Here's to another fifteen & then another fifteen...

Rockers, Superheroes & More!

Some various tidbits from today's news...

For the music fans out there, here's a slideshow of rockers who died before their career peaked.

Who didn't love Wonder Woman when they were kids? Woman wanted to be her & boys adored her. How she & the icon itself changed through the years.

Is everyone required to wear certain attire when flying now? Apparently so, according to these women. What do you think?

Six years later, 9/11 is still remembered. Personally the day itself worries me now.

How can people like this exist? I can't imagine what this poor woman will feel for years to come!

I recently wrote about a woman who tried to beat a train which resulted in killing several of her children. She has reportedly died from her injuries. The three children who survived have been released. The question is what happens to the poor things now?

What's that mean?

Here is dictionary meant for modern terms. Be aware it is not appropriate for kids! I personally found some terms quite vulgar so only go there if you dare.

Don't cheat on this woman!

Anyone would hate to be cheated on in a marriage but this woman minded more than most! I guess if they lived in France, he could've used this company. I don't agree with this company & what it does but in this society somebody was bound to come up with the idea.

Your room number is...

Are you tired of doing laundry, housework & dishes? Try living in a motel like this couple!

Rubies, Sapphires & Diamonds... Oh my!

How much do you love shoes? Enough to spend $120,000 on ONE pair of sandals? If so, you'll have to pass this cobra snake to buy a pair!

A sad day

Day 11 - She already brightens others' lives.

Over the weekend, we attended our friend's grandmother's wake. My parents watched our toddler son (to avoid any bad dreams or life questions so early on) while we brought our week & a half old daughter along. Our friends (who flew in for the wake & funeral) mentioned how meeting our newborn daughter really brightened their day. It meant a lot to us to show our support since we've known them since high school.

Things are going well. I'm slowly adjusting to handling a toddler & newborn with help from family. Yesterday evening she started to feed every 1.5 hours until late this morning. At one point, I had nothing left & she was still hungry! This must be the two-week growth spurt a few days early!!! I'm surprised she hasn't grown a foot with all the milk she had yesterday & this morning!

My hubby's mom is helping me this week keeping my son occupied. Yesterday & today she took him to the park where he played castle with some older kids. His imagine is growing by leaps & bounds every day! He's also sleeping through the night when our daughter cries now. That helps a lot!
