This past week our area was hit by 5-6 major sudden storms in one evening which caused localized flooding everywhere. Two neighboring towns by us have declared a state of emergency, bridges & over two dozen roads were closed & local festivals cancelled. 500-600 residents of the evacuated from near-by towns. Above is a picture of our DEEP retention pond which was full completely to the top & about 50 feet from som of the houses located next to the retention pond. If we didn't have that retention pond, we'd probably be under water ourselves!
One of the bridges in a nearby town located in downtown was on the verge of being flooded over as you can see above. The water was literally inches from the bottom of the bridge!

A local college was flooded in many parts where classes had to be cancelled & no one could come in or out from certain areas. If you look closely in the back of the photo, you can see a car in the was halfway underwater!
Local schools were affected as well when football fields (as you see in the background) were flooded as well. Homecoming games scheduled for the weekend had to be cancelled or re-scheduled. The water level was only 50 feet from the apartment complex you see in the background. Many places were still without power at the beginning of the weekend.
