Virginia Tech Tragedy
I was appalled when I heard what happened & even more disturbed as more details came out. I'm sure our nation was feeling the same things I was. I don't understand how someone with so much hatred can think that killing others would make a difference. It all started with a lovers' tiff. In the end, he killed himself AFTER destroying & traumatizing so many lives. Cho Seung-Hui (as everyone knows him now) displayed so many warning signs but nothing was done. I'm not sure if it was because people didn't know what or how to get him help but even mental facilities noticed these & appeared to follow through.
Some people happened to miss class for whatever reason & that saved their lives. Another person even recorded a video with their cell phone where you can hear some of the gunshots, imagining the horror the people experienced. Turns out that bloggers & cell phones help keep the nation appraised of what was happening. The rest remain senseless. So many bright people with bright futures passing onto their next life before they had the chance to really enjoy life.
My heart, thoughts & sympathies goes out to anyone who knew someone who experienced or died in this awful event in history or went through it themselves. I can't imagine how you must be feeling. I only wish there was something I could do to help.
My New Cell Phone
Wednesday evening I renewed my contract with my cell phone provider & got a Samsung A870 Bluetooth Camera Phone. I got the lower price with a rebate since I've been with our provider for a few years now. Plus now I can use a wireless headset with it. That will come in very useful now that our son is older now & we have second one on the way! Perhaps I can find another arm somewhere as well. LOL They even transferred my phone numbers for me which was a huge help. Let's not even mention how much time that would have taken.
Weekend Getaway
This week I've been planning our weekend getaway to celebrate our anniversary early this year. I'm so excited!!! My in-laws will be watching our son for the weekend while we stay in an affordable Bed & Breakfast enjoying our first weekend away since... well, maybe before our son was born! LOL
Sanjaya on American Idol
There's been so much controversy about this young boy, Sanjaya, on American Idol. Some people felt so strongly that they went on a hunger strike until he got voted off! Now I didn't think he was the best of them but he made it on the show which says something about him. I thought people acted a little extreme but that's their choice. There are worse things in this world than a singer people don't approve of. Fame comes in many disguises.
The most ironic thing is that now he's more famous than ever & is even to attend the White House for dinner! Can you imagine eating at the White House after others have starved because they didn't like you? LOL
Olympics in Chicago
In the summer of 2016, Chicago is hosting the summer Olympics. I never really thought about it but it's pretty amazing. Now I just have to remember to avoid those crowds! Can you imagine how that will boost the hospitality business though???

Rosemont Mayor
Recently a mayor passed away after battling cancer. He had quite the history! There are so many ways to pass on from this world (as we recently were reminded). I believe that going in your sleep must be the easiest & most painless way to move on from this world. I do hope that is how it is for me when I'm old & gray!
