Swimming with animals

Hello again! I know it’s been quiet here all weekend. Now that the weather is warming up our days are getting busier so I’m more anxious to get to bed in the evening instead of blogging. Here’s what we’ve been up to!

Thursday my hubby took my son swimming at the local YMCA while I went shoe shopping. Somehow I still couldn’t find comfortable slip-on sandals that wouldn’t give me blisters. I’ve never had such trouble finding sandals! Ah well. When I returned to the YMCA, I found my son climbing out of the pool (must have been for the umpteenth time), up the ladder & down the slide into deep end of the pool where Daddy caught him! I couldn’t believe what I was seeing! Our son had no fear & even went under water several times.

Friday morning my mother-in-law arrived early & off we went to the garage sales. Although we didn’t find any toddler/maternity clothing, we scored big finding a play kitchen in good shape & decent price for my son along with a few infant outfits & two dinosaurs (plus a whale) that are my son’s new favorite toys. Next Daddy joined us all for lunch at Steak-n-shake then it was home for naptime. I set aside some items for freecycle pick-up & organized my son’s play food in his new kitchen. When he woke up, we surprised him with his new kitchen where he ‘made’ us eggs. While I worked on laundry, my son watched a movie. Then he followed Daddy downstairs & they both cooked dinner (my son in his new kitchen & Daddy for real) while I finished laundry upstairs.

After dinner, my hubby & I took my son swimming at the YMCA where he had a blast going down the slide with Daddy catching him again & then I used his new shark to chase him around the pool. Spending time with my two favorite guys & relaxing in the water improved my mood greatly.

Then I put our son to bed while my hubby started a fire outside where I joined him for some ‘couple time’. It was so nice enjoying some popcorn & talking about our day in front of a warm fire.

Saturday morning we were off to run some errands after lunch. My hubby went to exchange my phone (problems with the voice dialing feature) while I took our son to get a haircut. We only waited for a few minutes before my son fell fast asleep. So there we waited in the salon with my son sleeping in my arms. Daddy came to pick us up shortly afterwards. Then while our son continued sleeping in the car we picked up roses (from the Lion’s Club) along with some replacement sand for our son’s sand box.

Along the way, we saw this dog sunning on the hot pavement. Daddy moved the dressers for the baby’s room upstairs while I got everything ready for our evening.

That evening we dropped our son off at my folks who watched him while we went to our friend’s surprise 30th birthday party. It was at a bowling alley with some of our friends. I actually bowled 2.5 consecutive games! Usually my hand is aching by the end of game one so it’s quite the achievement. We had a blast hanging out with friends & seeing people we hadn’t seen in quite some time. Like I said, we’re all so busy now!
After staying overnight at my folks’ place, our son woke up & slept with us in bed for a bit. Then he requested milk & mentioned how he ‘missed so-so’ (his friend). Then my mother watched him so we could sleep in until noon! Wow… I can’t remember when we did that last. It felt awesome. While we cleaned up, our son played with the little boy (the friend he mentioned earlier that morning) next door. As we got dressed, we discovered our son had put my hubby’s clothes in the empty garbage can (probably thinking it was a clothes hamper). That got a laugh! Then we zipped of to Target to pick up some inexpensive shorts to wear to the zoo that afternoon. Finding clothing is hard enough for me without adding maternity clothes in the mix. Finally I found a casual skirt that was comfortable on my belly & went with my existing tank top. Off we went to the zoo with Grandma, my youngest sister & her boyfriend. Our son had a blast hanging out with his relatives while we enjoyed a nice day out with our family. He especially loved ‘finding’ the animals at all the exhibits!

Last night we went to a minor league baseball game with our son. (We had gotten tickets through a local baseball team to show our support.) First we went on the bouncing slide where our son quickly got the hang of how to climb up before throwing himself down the slide. (LOL) He also loved going through the mini obstacle course with Daddy. That was pretty funny watching Daddy fit through some of those tight spots meant for little children! Then we got some food, found our seats & watched the beginning of the game. Our son found a little girl to play with in front of us while occasionally cheering. When he started to get restless, we went on the slide & mini-obstacle course a few more times. Even Mommy went with him a few times! By then people were heading out because it had gotten chilly, so we got some more food & found some empty seats during the last inning behind home plate. There we ate while our son cheered for the remainder of the last inning. We all had a blast even if it was colder than expected.

Late last night & early this morning I was cramping again so I took it easy. Then after work this evening, Daddy danced with our son & sang ‘Head, Shoulders, Knees & Toes”. Then it was time for a much anticipated bike ride over to the local park.
