Last evening we went to Baskin Robbins for the 31 cent scoop special. When we got there, the line was at least a 30 minute wait! So we waited & our son was a good boy finding ways to keep himself busy. He flirted with the girls in line behind us, marched, danced & listened for the trains passing. Finally it was our turn & so worth the wait.
As I was ordering, a pair of girls next to me tried to order more than five cups of ice cream for their co-workers! As the owner explained he couldn't do that (limit five scoops in one bowl) because he had to serve the remainder of people in line (keeping in mind that two or more people joined the line every minute or so), the girls started to throw a fit. Now first of all, ice cream cups aren't really something you get 'to go' unless you're five minutes away... but okay. The girls tried to throw a stink about it which I found amusing. The store had already run out of for or five flavors & you know how deep those bins are! The store had to serve people for another 1.5 hours & most people order two or more scoops. For 31 cents a scoop, we did too! After a lot of complaining, they ordered their indiviual orders & vented about having to wait in line all over again to place the remainder of their friends' orders. These two girls just didn't get the fact that they (along with everyone else) had to wait in line & the store was running out of ice cream. I'm sure everyone else, except the two girls, were shaking their heads.
I'm glad it proved to be such a success. Hopefully the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation received more money than they expected. All for a good cause!
