A queen among other things...

Yesterday my son enjoyed his afternoon snack of yogurt in the car (left).

Baby , Shoes, Toys & Spring

Monday evening my hubby & I went for our 21 week ultrasound while my in-law’s watched & played with our son. I don’t remember the ultrasound so long with our son as this one did but then the technician seemed to take a lot more individual body part measurements. I even started falling asleep at one point! (LOL) The baby was moving around a lot which you could clearly see on the ultrasound! The fun thing was seeing & feeling the baby move at the same time. Ever since the baby started moving last Thursday, it’s been moving regularly & getting stronger every day. Last night, my hubby even thought he felt the baby move when it was on a little rampage.

Tuesday morning my son & I ran some errands around town. We went to the shoe store where we measured my son’s feet to discover that he was a whole size bigger! Man, does he grow fast! He was very good about sitting & trying on three different pairs of shoes. Finally we selected on a pair of gym shoes & closed-toe sandals (to protect his toes since he’s always running). Now I have never had a problem finding a pair of shoes at Payless but for some reason, this time I couldn’t find anything. I knew the basic requirements I wanted & needed for my next pair of shoes (partly because of the pregnancy). I wasn’t specific about the look or color. I just needed something in my requirements that was neutral to wear with anything on a day to day basis. I was puzzled at how I couldn’t find anything. I did end up finding a pair of flip-flops with fabric material between the toes that would be useful. Ah well.

Next stop was our cell phone provider where I was able to exchange the battery on my new cell phone. It was having problems keeping a charge even without using the phone. The new phone battery seems to be working fine now.

We then stopped at the coffee shop next door where my son & I sat down by the fireplace for a snack of lemon poppy seed & banana bread. Then it was potty-time where he sat down real nice & went potty like a big boy!

The last stop was Target where we picked up some birthday cards & a new shelving unit with various sized containers for all the small toys in our family room. As we left the store, my son fell fast asleep sitting up in the cart. When we got home, I put it together easily while my son napped.

Today we drove with my hubby to his doctor’s appointment. While we were waiting, my son used the restroom after mommy. He went potty all by himself & kept his diaper dry! Afterwards we picked up an apple cinnamon coffee cake, grabbed a quick bite to eat & started to head home. It was then that my son told us he had to go potty! So we pulled over to the closest fast food restaurant while he held it. My hubby took him inside where our son went potty AGAIN still keeping his pull-up dry! Yeah! That’s such a big accomplishment for our son. He’s good about saying if he needs to go & going potty when we’re out & about. Now if only he would do that at home! LOL

Although the weather has been icky & a bit chilly today, the flowers in our front yard our starting to bloom. I think we’re okay to plant our seasonal flowers any day now. It always seems to brighten up the front yard more.

In the meantime, this baby is bringing on sudden periods of fatigue. I’ll be fine most the time & then two minutes later, I’m falling asleep!

Perfect weather finally!

The weather this weekend was absolutely gorgeous here! As someone said, "It's the perfect day you wait for all winter & all summer for!" So as you'll read, we definitely made the best of it. :-)

Saturday morning I woke up early to check out four garage sales specifically looking for toddler clothing for our son, summer maternity clothes & yarn to refill my cabinet (which I use to make blankets with for the pet shelter). Although I was left the house by 8:30 am, everybody had been cleaned out the day before! I did manage to find some Madi Gras bead necklaces which my son gets a kick dancing with. So by 9:15 am I was done. When I called home, my hubby & son were still sleeping (he's been having night terrors again on & off) so I went over to the nail salon where after a short wait I got a great french manicure with summer colors. It only cost me $20 with tip! Nothing like pretty nails to make a women feel attractive (especially when pregnant)! Anyhow, I went non-traditional & got the soft pink with ice blue tips. Then again as people know, I've always like to do things differently. ;-)

When I got home, we all had lunch & went outside. There our neighbor had arrived with the roller (to flatten out our bumpy yards). While three guys (including my hubby) made preparations, my son watched intently eager to help.

Then we played on the swing set in our backyard for a short time before my son & I both took a nap. When I woke up, I joined my hubby & son at the local neighborhood park where my son was playing with another little girl.

On the way home from the park, we stopped by our neighbor's home who were putting up their new swing set. He was already halfway through but my hubby helped him with the last half. Isn't that what you do for neighbors & friends? Then the kids enjoyed playing on their new swing set as my hubby emptied our car to head to my folks place.

When we got to my folks' place, we visited with their next door neighbor while our sons played together. Then it was off to Old Country Buffet to eat our fill! Before we headed home, my son received a stuffed dinosaur which he fell asleep with on the way home. By the time we got home, my hubby & son were fast asleep in the car.

Sunday brought another great day! We met my in-laws at their new home in the late morning. My mother-in-law & I picked up my sister-in-law & then we all headed to my hubby's cousin's wife's baby shower. She looked amazing at 7.5 months! I hope I look that good then.

While we were at the shower, my hubby & son spent the day at a children's amusement park with Grandpa. (I’ll post those pictures in the next day or so.) It was a guys' day where they all had a blast. My son evidently loved the log ride & roller coaster the best! He's definitely a thrill-seeker! I wouldn't be surprised if he turns out one of those guys interested in motorcycles.

Then we all had dinner at Colonial Cafe. My son was very cranky but ate well considering (even if half of what he ate was part of my French toast). Before we left my in-laws for the evening, son took another bike ride (on Daddy's bike with the new attachment that allows him to sit in front of Daddy) with Daddy. It was so incredibly windy that we expected the wind to blow them over!

You only get one brain

A recent family picture after we bought father & son new helmets for bike riding this summer. As for Mama... well let's just say that with the baby (and mama!) getting bigger, she won't be getting on any bikes this summer!

As my hubby gets our son's new bike helmet on him, our son starts to wonder where is your helmet Daddy until the question is answered.

What ladybug?

Getting ready to get the 'drop' on Daddy!

Where is that ladybug? Ah ha! Careful not to hurt it.

Roll 'em out!

Saturday morning several of our neighbors went in together & rented a roller to flatter out the bumps of our individual yards. Here the some of the men are working on it while our son & neighbor's daughter watches.

Off to the next house!

Blinding sun at the Park

My son & I making the most of the perfect day, played at the local park.

Sliding with sunglasses & Mama

I had a blast watching my son have so much fun at our local park on Saturday afternoon. He loved wearing his sunglasses! At one point he took them off, handed them to me before sliding down & then came up to me asking "Fix glasses?"

Riding on a perfect day

Isn't our son a bundle of cuteness???
And my hubby... what a stud!

Helping neighbors

Saturday afternoon we stopped by our neighbors. My hubby helped put up the swingset while the kids played & the mommies chatted.

Everyone takes a break!

Afterwards we all enjoyed watching & playing with the kids. They loved it!

Exhaustion

This is what happens when you have fun outside all day!

Another great-grandchild in his family!

My hubby's mother & sister (on the left) joined me at my hubby's cousin's wife's (confusing I know) baby shower. They're expecting their first child & everything is going well.

At the baby shower, I was the third (& least) pregnant women there.
Here we are!
