Going where every parent has gone before!

Yesterday our son let us know he was officially ready for a big boys bed by sleeping peacefully in my parent's bed instead of the pack and play. Yes I know our son (at 27 months old) has stayed in his crib longer than most kids. We've been expecting this moment since he was 18 months. Last christmas we got some toddler bedding to go with the used toddler bed we purchased last summer.

Today I put the toddler bed together without a problem, made the bed with his new Thomas the Train sheets & moved the crib to another part of the room. Then our son helped me put up some removable wall stickers on his walls for his big boys room. There's zoo animals, dinasours, water animals, trucks & glow-in-the-dark stars & moon. These are now mixed in with his hot air balloons, clouds & star wall stickers.

When naptime came today, he layed down & covered up. Then I sat on the floor & read two books to him while he sucked on his fingers. After the books, I lay my head down & he went to sleep. It took a few tries because he didn't want to be left alone. I think he's used to the security of his crib. I'm not too worried about naptime... now bedtime, that will be interesting!

Sometime in the next few days, my hubby will move the crib over to the activity room where it'll stay.

Did I forget to mention that our son locked himself in his bedroom today? That was a momentary scare quickly forgotten. I had to tell him to sit on the bed because he kept turning the doorknob while I was trying to unlock it. Let me tell you... that does not work!
