Lullaby...

Our son fell asleep on the way home from the airport outing but when I put him to bed he refused to go back to sleep. So finally I let him watch an episode of Sesame Street while I packed & started laundry. Soon enough, Elmo coaxed our son to sleep with talk of goldfish. Thank you Elmo... for making life easier sometimes.

Clear for take-off!

Yesterday I contacted the local airport about seeing some planes with my son. T, the very cool airport manager, called me back & we set up a time to take a tour this morning. My son's playmate, A, her baby sister & Mommy joined us. The kids had a ball running around all that open space & seeing the planes up close.

While my son & I tried the pilot's seat, the manager explained all the switches on the control panel. He even turned the lights on the panel on for us! My son loved pushing the buttons while I learned how the 'steering wheel' (for lack of a better word) worked.

"What happens when I push this button?"

A & her mama learn to fly too.

"Mommy, can I get down now?"

Kids get antsy for a group photo in front of one of the planes.

That's a big sock!

Next stop is the wind sock! The kids found this to be pretty cool.

My son makes a run for the wind sock.

"Freedom!"

His playmate, A, gets a better view of the wind sock on my shoulders while her Mommy holds her baby sister, K.

A considers a photo with mommy & her sister but decides against it.

She plays in fields of... well not gold but you get the picture! LOL

Hanging at the hangar!

The airport manager was awesome today & showed the kids & us a great time! Thanks!

Entertaining each other

Do the bunny hop!

I'm loving this!!!

Flying high!

Our outing at the local airport continued...

My son & I coax his playmate to join us for a photo in front of the 'looping' plane.

Then her mama joins us!

"Is everyone ready for take-off?"

"Buckle up people! This is my first time flying..."

The tiger on the gas truck for the planes was very interesting for my son. Probably the last thing he expected at an airport, but it makes sense. Planes should be as fast as tigers! Well, maybe a little faster. LOL

Nighty night!

The pumpkin bars are frosted & I'm off to bed! I know it's insanely earlier for us but ever since our son has started getting up at 7-8 am we've had to get up at normal times like the rest of the world. Maybe this is our way of being prepared again for baby number two. Hmm... something to think about for sure!

The above photo was taken our son was five months old. Such innocence. Not so much anymore. Today alone he got at least five or six time-outs! Sheesh! Don't you love the 'terrible twos'?

The Joy of Pyrex!

Today I cooked & baked a frenzy! I made a chicken & broccoli casserole with a marinated cucumber & tomato salad. For tomorrow's dinner I made a sweet potato casserole (a new recipe) which I just need to throw in the oven & the pork chops are defrosting in the fridge as I write. Rarely do I get into a cooking mood. You see cooking & baking are very different for me. Tonight though I went on a frenzy. I have no idea why. Tonight's dinner turned out well though.

After dinner, I continued on a baking frenzy making 6 dozen sugar cookies & pumpkin bars. Now all that is left to make the cream cheese frosting which I'll be doing after this post. Our son loves to help. He helped mix, pour ingredients & hand me eggs throughout all of it. Then of course, we got to taste! We love that part.

I took out the 9'x13' Pyrex pan & the took off the lid. My son's response was "Whoa!!!" Another thing you miss as an adult... the joy of Pyrex!

Tomorrow we're going on a tour of the local airport where our son & his playmate can get a close-up look at some of the planes that fly by here. How cool is that? They even told us to bring a camera! Now how could I forget that???

String cheese are like mates

String cheese are like mates... they should always be chosen carefully!

Attack of the Geese!

"I repeat... we're under attack! We're under attack!"

"Roger that. Name the target. Over."

"Attack the Geese! We're losing ground here!"

"Please repeat target."

"I said geese man. Send in re-enforcements immediately!"

"Roger. We'll get back to you."

My fine examples of wit...

My hubby & I always joke about my wit or should I say lack of wit. When I want to be funny, I rarely am. When I try to be serious, I'm unintentionally funny.

So yesterday we're driving in the car & I saw these water sprinkles going. They reminded me of a dance so I suggested the caption "Liquid Dance" to my hubby. (Now you see what I mean by trying to be funny & just not getting there.)

To which I received a "You've got to be kidding" look from my hubby. Then replied, "Then I guess the fountain must be "Lord of the liquid dance."

So here is my ode to you, Lord of the Liquid Dance!

Water abounds;
It knows no limits,
Spraying and dancing everywhere.
Find your peace
And settle there.

Concrete memories

Interesting creations

Recently I tried a new recipe for a chicken & water chestnut casserole. It turned out okay & tasted fine. Will probably make it again but next time I'll add some broccolli. Anyhow, this is what things look like when I cook.

A walk in my shoes

Tonight I went for a walk with my friends J&D around the neighborhood. It was really nice catching up with them. Our life seems so busy yet I'm not sure where all the time is going & or what we're doing. They both gave me some really good advice to not worry about things (because I do it so well). So that's what I'm trying to do... enjoy each moment.

Anyhow these were some of the fantastic views we got that day.

Another day beckons...

A storm recedes...

We got a smart one!

Son has started using a toddler bed. We have a bed rail for it to keep him from falling out of the bed but the rail goes the entire length of his bed. We were a little worried that he would try to climb over the bed rail when he wakes up and hurt himself so we didn't use it. Since the bed is only 1 foot off the floor we thought he was in greater danger of him getting hurt that way than just rolling out of bed. So here's how the second night went:

2:30 AM: Wakes up and starts whimpering a little bit...not totally awake. Normally he just falls right back asleep when this happens so we listen for a few seconds.

2:31 AM: THUMP!

2:31 AM and 2 seconds: WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!

He didn't hurt himself of course (it's a very short fall) but this woke him up big time and it took Wife over an hour to calm him down and get him back asleep. Hmmm...this isn't going to work.

So, we put the bed rail back in. He's now sleeping through the night again (after 3 days in the new bed) and in the morning he just pushes the bed rail out of the way and climbs around it. No problem. We gotta remember that we got a smart kid here.

Winter Camping

My hubby & I were discussing the possibility of winter camping. He laughed & said he would never take me winter camping because I need a quilt if the air conditioner is running. I agreed & then mentioned how I might be pregnant and hormonal. His response was, "Oh God. What a horrible way to die."

Of course... he's right!

Sweet surprise

Today I found my hubby had left me a sweet card for me to find in our mailbox! He's really the best. I know I'm too hard on him sometimes... Sorry baby!

Through the eyes of a child...

Always knew I was a princess!

I always loved princesses! I even got myself a prince who actually loves me instead of planning to kill me. Wait... honey, you're not doing that right? Honey?

Oh, the irony!

Tonight I was driving to the movie theater when our son started to pretend he was sleeping for fun. Funny part was that he actually fell sound asleep doing so!

My hubby & I then took our son to see the movie "Over The Hedge". We read the book (basically a synposis of the movie) almost everynight at bedtime with his matching stuffed animals. The book & matching stuffed animals were a great gift from Grandpa B for our son. Anyhow, he watched the movie quietly all the way through while sitting on Daddy's lap. He asked for drink & crackers once or twice but that was it. There's one part where the animals are in trouble in the book & movie. When that happened, the whole theater was silent when our son replied "Uh oh" because he was worried about the animals. We were so proud of how well he did!

Afterwards my hubby & I goofed around while trying to decide on where to go for dinner. My son got a kick of the two of us wrestling for the popcorn for the sacred yellow pieces. Anyhow after three buckets (free refills are awesome!) of popcorn, we were pretty full but our son had to eat.

Finally it was off to Pizza Hut where a waitress was odd. Not nice, indifferent or rude... Can't explain it.

Then on the way home, the fields were seriously full of fireflies! The fields liked they had flickering gold lights all throughout. It was so beautiful & amazing.

Our son then got to see a freight train come through town which he was in awe of. He's interested in so mnay things now & trains are but one of many of his interests.

You're home!

After getting home from the hospital, I felt so lonely without my hubby & son here. So I got active. I vacuumed, caught up on laundry & watched a movie while I waited for them to come home. When they got home my son was sleeping. He woke up, looked at me & said "Mama?". He snuggled with me while we made his bedtime milk then it was off to bed. Although we went to bed nice for me (I didn't even have to lay next to him so we're making progress), he woke up so my hubby went in & read the book he asked for. Then he slept through the night for me!!! Although he wakes up at 6 am now so we may be forced to change our ways to be like most parents. LOL We knew it had to happen one day!

What great sound!

Last night was very relaxing & fun. While my hubby drove to my in-law's with our son, I got 'Mommy time-off' at my Uncle K's. The girls chatted while the guys played bean bag toss. The hamburgers were yummy with great seasoning. I told my Aunt A that I'd like to get some but it was her secret seasoning. She said she would make some for me though. I think my hubby & I might actually have found a seasoning for hamburgers & steak we both like! Cross your fingers folks!

Afterwards we watched the movies "Fifth Element" & "Armageddon" in their new theater room. It has a beautiful bar, leather recliners, a movie screen which covers the entire wall & is surrounded by red velvet curtains. The sound was so amazing!!!

That evening I finished the baby shower games & crashed at their place. The next morning I woke up at 8 am to a phone call with my mother informing me that my sister, J, was in the hospital in labor. Two hours later I was informed that the doctor was going to let her deliver the baby & that she would be admitted.

So although the hospital okayed having the baby shower their, I realized how hard it would be to fit 8-22 people in her hospital room (not including the cake & food). If she was in active labor, how enjoyable would it be to open baby gifts while your laying down & your stomach is contracting??? So I called everyone to cancel, posted a sign on her front door & headed to the hospital. She was given some medication & sleeping when I arrived so I visited with my Aunt D & her family who was visiting while crotcheting. When my sister awoke she was informed that although she was 75 % effaced & contracting every six minutes, nothing had progressed. So she was being sent home.

All in all, Sunday was a disappointing day for me. The baby shower which we've worked so hard for had to be cancelled & J did not have the baby after all. On the other hand, my son & hubby had a ball at the beach. I'm so glad he did well with the water!

On to the next life...

A few hours ago, my hubby's relative (the one you read about several days ago) has died. Thankfully she was heavily medicated during the last day so she wasn't in much pain. I hope she's happier & lives another long, full life next time around.

Family time

Today I'm heading out to my Uncle K's place where they're hosting a family BBQ followed by movie night in their new movie theater. I can't wait to see what it looks like!

Not again!!!

My hubby was exhausted & has to drive for a business meeting on Sunday. So since because I love his so much & didn't want him to crash & die, I volunteered to take our son if he woke up in the middle of the night. I knew as I said it that I would regret it & of course I did. He woke up not once but twice! Fell out of bed both times so I had to lay on the floor next to him both times as he continues the adjusting process.

Okay booms...

My parents, son, hubby & I returned to a local festival in our old neighborhood to ride a few rides with my son, eat & see some fireworks.

Don't go pony... I need you!

Mirror, Mirror on the wall
Who's the fairest of them all?

You're never to old to ride the merry-go-round!

Waiting in line with Grandpa for the flying elephant ride.

Hmmm... why did I want go on this again?

We've got the beat!

Now for the spontaneous choreographed group dance... everyone join in!

Oh wait, that only happens in movies!

Am I having a good time? Na! Can't you tell? LOL

We had some glow in the dark bracelets that we got from the dollar store. My son found them so curious as he transferred them from one arm to the other in the dark car.

Before we left, there was a fireworks show which was very disappointing but still enthralled my son that the sky had special fire in shapes just appearing & disappearing in the sky! LOL

When we headed home, he was zonked before we even got to the highway.

Sliders!

After the local festival & running errands together, Mom & I went back to her place where my hubby & father met us later. At the house, he kept looking to play with the next door neighbor's son (same age approx). He loves to play with other kids. While Mom was putting their new toddler bed together, y son & I played at the park. There we had so much fun & met a cute little dog.

Just hanging around...

See me climb all by myself? I told you Mom... I'm a big boy now!

Almost there...

This is so cool Mom! Let's ride the slide together again.

Then he loved going down the slide by himself. I can't believe he's old enough to do that now...

Our son explores his first port-a-potty. Although it's interesting now, like the rest of the world, he'll avoid them later at all costs. Although I have to say that some companies are doing an excellent job of keeping them clean & thereby not as disgusting to use. LOL

What a crowd!

Friday I drove in with my hubby to work where Mom picked my son & I up again.

That afternoon, my sister, J, joined us at the local festival.

Our son could only go on a few rides because of his size & limited ability to stay in one place by himself. So he really enjoyed the Merry-go-round (which got faster in the evening), the flying elephant ride & absolutely loved the pony ride.

Then he got his first tatoos by an old aquaintance of mine from high school, C. Okay maybe they weren't real tatoos, only the temporary kind. He was very curious about the whole procedure. He loved showing off his dinasour & lightning bolt to Daddy!

This stuffed tiger was pretty cool. It's amazing how real it looked. With Our son loving animals now, he was so excited!

We found the most divine cholocate covered strawberry kabobs! Yummy!

Shortly after we saw another child paz out, our son had his own spaz attack as he was getting tired. He fell asleep immediately after he was in his car seat before the door was even closed. Then we ran a few errands for my sister's baby shower while he slept.

Awake again!

Our son woke up again in the middle of the night. After two to three hours I got to sleep in my own bed...

I can't wait for tomorrow night. That's my hubby's night!

Sleep my angel...

Tonight my hubby put our son to bed for the first time in his big boy bed. As expected, he started crying when my hubby left. You see, he did that during his nap this afternoon too. As much as he loved his new bed, it scares him to be alone. He's been good about not moving around so far. When he wakes up, he just sits in bed screaming because he's so freaked out. Then he just wants to cuddle like there's no tomorrow, which is awfully cute.

So I went back in, turned his lamp on very low (which I left on low as well because he's so nervous) & stayed with him until he fell sound asleep. It took me four times to leave but eventually he was completely out.

Yet I'm no fool... if he doesn't wake up screaming tonight, I will be shocked!

Today's Tunes

Our son discovers he can use the playhouse to climb out of the window & find... freedom!

"Like Spider Man
I'm climbing the wall
I want my prize"

Our son was running around the house completely hyper (due to the fact he spent 10 minutes running around the second floor chasing & being chased by Daddy); that was until he slammed his ear into the kitchen table. Of course his reaciont was to cover his ear, scream & scrunch into a bunch all while reaching for me at the same time. When I picked him up, he held on so tightly that I just wanted to make the pain go away. Hence the photo below... using an ice pack by himself for the first time (with no fuss mind you)!

"I must have bumped my head.
Maybe I should quiet down."
